Use Google's Free Blog Service to Make a Little Money from Home: Get Paid When People Click on Ads

Yes, you can get paid a little money when people click on Ads on your blog.

We've been paid as much as $2.99 for a single click to as little as 3 or 12 or 16 cents.

People don't need to buy a product or service.  They just need to click on any Ad.  But these advertisements must be a specific type of ad.  They are called "pay-per-click" ads because you are paid money every time someone clicks on your ads.

A very popular free service that has a multitude of pay-per-click ads is through Google.  Don't be discouraged though!  It's a lot easier signing up than it may sound.

Here is a screenshot of a random time we earned $0.78 for our clicks

Sign Up for a Free Adsense Account

You would need to sign up for a Google Adsense account.

If you can sign up for an email account, you can easily go through a slightly similar process in order to sign up for a Google Adsense account.  Instead of typing "gmail.com" into your search bar or website search engine, you would type "Google Adsense" instead.

Sign Up for a Free Blog

Once you've opened up a free Adsense account to create free ads from, you would need a website or blog to display them.  You can use pretty much any type of platform using a variety of sources available to you whether paid or free.

We use free blog services.  We like using these free services as a way to test out if an idea is fairly good.  Blogger is a good start for a free blogging platform if you are trying to make a little money from home.

Choose a name and title for your blog.  Then you can post immediately.  You can have a blog or website log within a few minutes.  It's that easy.

Create Ads, Copy the Code, and Paste Them to Your Blog Post (the old-fashioned method)

When your blog is up and running, write your first blog post.  Write as many articles as you'd like but don't wait too long to paste the code to your blog.

Right now Blogger (Google's free blog service) allows you to easily integrate their Adsense service.  As of this writing, we haven't tried that yet.  We place ads using the old-fashioned method which gives us control over where we'd like to place the advertisement codes.

Here is a screenshot of the section you'll see when creating a new adusing Google Adsense

You need to create a New Ad in your Adsense account.  Go to the "My Ads" section on the upper left-hand corner.  Then click on "New Ad Unit."  It is easy to spot because it has a "+" plus sign beside it.

You will have to choose an Ad size and Type.  We like to choose Text Ads so as not to avoid offensive images.  We also think that by choosing text ads our blogs have an advantage to making more people comfortable.  Website visitors will also be able to easily navigate through the blog without distracting flashy photo advertisements.  So you have a choice of displaying Text, Media, or Text and Media Ads.

After you've chosen what type of ads you want, you then would click the appropriate button to create the ad and get the code.

Copy the code.  Then go to your Blogger blog.

Using the "HTML" mode paste the Ad code anywhere on your blog post.  We like to post our Google Ad Codes before, after, as well as the middle of our blog posts.

You can paste this same code three times within your blog post.

If you'd like to test out different ad sizes and types (related topics list, etc.) your free to go back to your Adsense Account and create more.

How Does it Work?  Is it a Scam?

Earning money from Google Ads clicks is not a scam.  It is a legitimate way to earn a little money.

Advertisers pay Google to advertise to a specific target of "customers."  Google uses the content on your blog (or website) to target the right audience.

Here is a screenshot of a Google Ad that turned up today on one of our blog or websites focusing on restaurants

An example would be our restaurant pages.  The Text Ads that are featured on some of our Blog Pages or Posts that have restaurants or food mentioned will offer restaurant coupons, discounts, etc.

When your web visitors click on those Ads, you get paid a share of what Google gets paid.  Then Advertisers pay Google for that web visitor's one click.

If you already own a high traffic niche (topic) related blog or website, your ability to earn money is a lot higher and faster than those starting out a blog from scratch.

Place Ads on Your Blog's Sidebar

You have more options of displaying Ads on your Blogger Blog than just the blog posts themselves.  The sidebar is another good area to paste your Ad Codes.

On your blog's Layout Template, add an HTML widget on the sidebar area.  Then paste your Ad Code in the box.

Your box must be an HTML box or your Adsense Code will not display properly.

Remember, you're free to reposition your HTML box along your sidebar.  And yes you can add HTML boxes (and more Google Ads) on the bottom of your Blog as well.

You're Ready to Start Earning a Little Money

You're done!

Now you're ready to earn a little money whenever your blog (or website) visitors click on any of the Google Ads.

Some Helpful Tips

  • Currently, Google allows a maximum number of 3 Ads to be displayed at any given time.  It's okay if some of your Ad placements do not appear when you check on them.  Remember, that sometimes website visitors will find the direct link to a specific post instead of your basic blog address.
  • Choose a good niche topic that you know a lot about or enjoy.  This will help you to write more words that are relative to your topic and more visitors will be apt to find your blog.
  • Keep website statistics (there are free services available) so that you know what keywords you consistently rank high on Google (or other search engines such as Yahoo, Bing, AOL, etc.) for, what type of Ads website visitors click on the most, if others are referring your blog or blog posts, and a host of other information.
  • Post relevant and helpful images
  • The more Blog Posts and Pages you have that contain good information will help you to be found a lot sooner
  • The more relevant traffic you have, the higher the probability is that they will click on at least one of your Ads because it is covering a topic that they are interested in
  • Once you have a blog (or website) established that has enough content to attract a steady amount of visitors every day, multiply your efforts by creating more blogs
